EDI Student Project Award Winner Kate Osman created a workshop to support the creation of Instagram Reels and Storyboarding
The Instagram Reel Creation Workshop I conducted through the EDI Award was a rewarding addition to an already rewarding process of spreading awareness about serious topics on social media. After creating a Reel about my experiences as an Asian woman to promote my podcast, I held the workshop to share what I learned about speaking on vulnerable topics online and how to do it. The students who attended my workshop were also taught how to use CapCut, a free video editing application and we also did a tour of the Helix building to find out what equipment was available to us. The workshop not only made me happy because I was able to share what I learned from social media, but it also has given me confidence. I am confident that I can host a workshop, I know I can teach people I don’t know unfamiliar things, and that I am capable of leadership. Finally, I'd like to thank Susan Preston for helping me with the whole process of setting up the Workshop.
